Darker Nights. Brighter Security

Darker Nights. Brighter Security

As we move into autumn and the evenings get darker earlier, it's important to take a few simple steps to protect your home from opportunist burglars.

Top Tips to Protect Your Home:-

🔒 Lock all doors and windows, even when you're at home or only leaving for a short time.
💡 Use timer switches on lights to make your home look occupied when you're out.
🚗 Keep vehicle keys, handbags and valuables out of sight and away from doors and windows.
🌳 Secure side gates, sheds and garages with good quality locks.
🎥 Consider installing CCTV, a video doorbell or security lighting to deter offenders.
📦 Ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property if you're away and remove any visible deliveries.
📱 Avoid posting holiday plans or extended absences on social media.
✂️ Keep hedges and shrubs trimmed to reduce hiding places around your home.
🏡 Close curtains and blinds at dusk to stop valuables being visible from outside.
👀 Report any suspicious activity, including strangers trying door handles, looking into vehicles or acting unusually in your      neighbourhood.

Remember, many burglaries are committed by opportunists looking for easy targets. Taking a few moments to secure your property can make a significant difference.
🚔 If you see suspicious activity, report it via 999. In an non emergency, call 101.
